Cohuna Solar Farm, a 34 MW project located in Horfield, Victoria 8km’s south of Cohuna has been awarded a 15-year support agreement with the Victorian State Government who has a target of 25 per cent renewable energy by 2020 and 40 per cent by 2025 under its Victorian Renewable Energy Target. Leeson Group will co-develop the project with Enel Green Power Australia, which will generate approximately 77GWh of renewable electricity each year and will avoid 70,200 tonnes of carbon being emitted into the atmosphere each year. The plant will consist of 87,000 high efficiency bifacial solar modules on a single axis tracking system that will track the sun from the morning to the evening and will cover an area of 82.5 hectares. “The project aligns with our group's goal of a zero carbon electricity sector and is a huge step toward the Victorian State Governments 40% renewable Energy Target” said Peter Leeson, the managing director of Leeson Group. “The project is estimated to cost 59 million Australian dollars, will create Victorian jobs and stimulate the local and state economy”. Leeson Group is a Victorian based renewable energy business operating in Solar Farm Development, National Construction, Energy Consultancy and Building Integrated PV. Leeson Group works with government, industry and investment partners across the sector.
