Girgarre Solar Farm is a 95MW DC Solar Power Farm under development 6km’s North - West of Stanhope in Victoria. Developed by Leeson Group as part of its mission to transition the Australian energy system to solely renewable energy and reduce the current and future generations carbon footprint, it will generate 190,000MWh of clean electricity every year.

Project Value $150 million with construction to commence 2022 and commercial operations 2023.

Girgarre community working towards sustainability together

The community of Girgarre has received a $70,000 donation from Enel Green Power, A firm developing the 95MW Girgarre Solar Farm with Leeson Group. The donation, facilitated by Leeson Group and Girgarre Development Group, was a welcomed but unlikely result of the Girgarre Solar Farms development.

The $150 million project, developed by Leeson Group and now owned by Enel Green Power, is a part of Leeson Group's mission to transition Australia's energy market away from fossil fuels and toward renewable sources. In doing so, Leeson Group hopes to educate the community about solar power's financial and environmental benefits.

2018

Development Approval

Development Approval - Achieved in 2018 with no objections from the community or stakeholders. Considering that the greater Shepparton area has several solar farm proposals ending in VCAT and planning permits declined, this was proof of Leeson Group's understanding of social licence and consultation with all stakeholders to provide positive outcomes for the community and stakeholders.

2021

Grid Connection Approval

Grid Connection Approval - Connecting to the Shepparton 66kV network, the project achieved grid connection in 2021.

2022

Construction to Commence

Construction to Commence - Construction of Girgarre Solar Farm is planned for late 2021, which will provide hundreds of jobs within the local community and a positive social impact on the greater Shepparton area.
